Enrichment
Tumblebus: Research shows that a child's early experiences in school and athletics form the basis for his/her self-concept and self-esteem for later years. Early positive experiences in an athletics program lead children to have higher self-esteem and engage in an active lifestyle in their future. Gymnastics is inherently satisfying- rolling, turning, jumping and swinging are all types of movements children enjoy. Tumblebus provides our students an avenue to learn gymnastics. Tumblebus is equipped with bars, beam, vault, trampoline, ropes, rings, and monkey bars. This program is offered to children ages 18 months and older on Friday mornings.
Soccer: Kid Goal has developed an age appropriate curriculum for children ages 3-9 to introduce soccer to beginning players wih an emphasis on fundamental skill development, physical fitness, and health education in a fun and exciting atmosphere. Children are taught coordination, agility, ball control, and various techniques that can be applied to the game of soccer. This program is offered to children ages 3 and older on Tuesday mornings.
Chess Club: Playing chess has proven to help students enhance their creativity, improve their power of concentration, develop and expand critical thinking skills, boost memory and retention, and achieve superior academic performance. Additionally, chess has been shown to augment problem-solving capabilities, provide cultural enrichment, advance intellectual maturity, and enhance self-esteem…qualities that all parents desire for their children. Chess improves thinking skills. Chess2Children will focus on keeping the game fun for children while teaching them lessons that are important in life. This program is offered to children in grades K and higher, and will be on Wednesday afternoons for 60 minutes.
Dance: Dance in early childhood education stimulates cognitive, social, and large motor growth. Movement develops a child's ability to make sensory and motor decisions and to use feedback to change and/or eliminate errors. Running, jumping, skipping, gliding and galloping all move the body through space in different directions and levels. Other moves such as turning, spinning, and inverted movements promote equilibrium. They provide a safe and creative environment which allows students ages 3 and older to develop motor skills, talents and physical fitness. After completing the year, the children are able to perform in a recital. Classes are Wednesday afternoons.
Martial Arts: Our curriculum focuses on the Gracie Jiu Jitsu self defense methods. We instruct our students through the use of games designed to teach the techniques in an exciting and fun manner. In addition to learning self defense, parents also see an increase in their child's self confidence, improved listening and behavior, and enhanced gross motor skills. We will track your child's weekly attendance with our Class Cards. When your child has completed 20 classes they will receive a stripe for their belt. When your child has received 4 stripes they will be eligible for a belt promotion. Impact Martial Arts follows the internationally recognized Gracie Jiu Jitsu belt system. Classes are held on Thursday afternoons for ages 3 and older.
Yoga: Children experience many of the same physical benefits adults do from practicing yoga. Yoga strengthens them and helps them become more flexible and coordinated. Additional benefits include increased body awareness, improved self esteem, reduced stress and the opportunity to move their bodies and exercise in a non-competitive environment. Class is held on Friday afternoons for ages 2 1/2 and older.
