Primary School
Our goal in the private program at West Cobb is to instill a love of learning and preserve the self-esteem in each of our children. We accomplish this through the use of a well-rounded curriculum and through individual attention to each student to ensure the children can strive for success, feel supported through challenges, and feel recognized for their efforts and accomplishments.
Our team of experienced and educated teachers continually strive to reach each child's potential through the use of our varied curriculums and resources. The subjects of study include; Math, Reading, Language Arts, Phonics, Spelling, Science, Writing, Vocabulary, Art and Social Studies. The curriculum is implemented in large groups, small groups, projects, and self-directed activities.
West Cobb's Private Program is unique in many ways. We offer low class sizes, part and full day options, standardized testing, pre-admission testing, weekly assessments, quarterly field trips for Pre-K classes, monthly field trips for Kindergarten students and older, and a challenging curriculum.
We encourage personal expression through speaking and acting throughout the year as seen in our Holiday, History and Graduation Programs which feature every student in our private program. Our first and second grades continue their exposure to public speaking by utilizing the West Cobb News Room daily. Their confidence builds when reciting the pledge of allegience, report the weather, and inform the school of special activities for the day. Our monthly etiquette classes facilitate the instruction of proper manners and are replicated in our classrooms throughout the school term.
We continually seek to improve our program and invite every parent/guardian to participate in a child's education through various committees which include Teacher Appreciation, Education, Parent Advisory Board, and Parent Expertise. Our school is informal and friendly. We are a school where parent feedback is requested both formally in bi-annual surveys and informally in speaking with the school's administrators.
